We’ve been busy this winter (& summer!), or rather Chris & Jenny have. After re-grouting all the bathrooms in the summer, they got to work organising new carpets to be fitted in the chalet, where any signs of wear & tear had appeared (e.g. the stairs up to the top floor), and in the apartment, where both bedrooms were treated to new carpets.

Then they welcomed in the Les Contamines polisars, who drew up a long list of all the items & changes needed for the ‘classement‘. This long list having been knocked off, item by item, the chalet reached its 4* rating (5* was only possible if the ensuite bathrooms had separate loos, which isn’t going to happen!). The apartment made it to 3*, which wasn’t a great leap (it only meant buying a vacuum cleaner!). 4* for the apartment would have meant installing a washing machine, which we probably will do in the summer.

So, if you want to see what 4* looks like, take a look at the new sofa and armchairs, which arrived last week…

Honeymoon couple enjoy Chalet Kiana apartment

We’ve had honeymooners before…and no doubt more will come to stay in our 2-bedroom apartment in the mountains. What better place to escape to, if you don’t want to be enjoy some peace & quiet together before returning to the hurly burly? Here’s what our guests who stayed in our self-catered Alpine apartment in August had to say…

‘nous avons passés un excellent séjour dans votre appartement. Votre chalet est idéalement situé avec un envirronement au calme. Nous recherchons un bien à la vente correspondant à votre appartement sur les Contamines mais cela n’est pas facile. Peut-être reviendrons nous cet hiver.‘

Well, for those that don’t read French without pulling out the dictionary or cutting and pasting into Google Translate, this couple loved the seclusion of our mountain chalet so much that they’re looking to buy an apartment (like ours) in Les Contamines-Montjoie.

Good luck to them. It took us 8 years to find the kind of place we were after, in Les Contamines. We wanted a small mountain chalet, with good views, but ended up with a big one; that was the only compromise we made! The views, the sunsets, the tranquility are all inspiring.

Anyway, it sounds like the honeymooners might be back this winter, as they’ll struggle to find anywhere to buy before then.

Our French-speaking clients are developing a much-appreciated habit of sending us unsolicited e-mails telling us how much they have enjoyed staying at our value-for-money chalet in the French Alps. Well, actually, they don’t refer to it as value-for-money, but it must be as they keep coming back for more!

C’est avec un peu de retard que je vous recontacte afin de vous donner un petit commentaire concernant notre séjour dans votre chalet KIANA (semaine du 30 juillet au 6 août, famille C******Z).
Tout d’abord, je tiens à m’excuser de ne pas avoir laisser un commentaire dans votre “livre d’or” au chalet…. j’ai complètement oublié de le faire le jour de notre départ !!!
Nous avons passé une semaine franchement très agréable dans votre chalet, tout était parfait, bien aménagé, et très bien préparé par vos collaborateurs sur place.
Toute la famille n’a donné que des commentaires très positifs, votre chalet est magnifique, d’un confort exceptionel, et bien au-delà de nos espérances.
Nous reviendrons surement, en famille, une prochaine fois.

That’s good enough for us. We hope it’s good enough for you, if you’re looking for a comfortable, self-catering chalet (sleeps 12 in 6 ensuite bedrooms) in a lovely French Alpine ski resort!

Nous venons de rentrer des Contamines. Nous avons passés de très belles vacances au Chalet.
Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l’accueil de Jennie et Chris, le confort de l’appartement, très fonctionnel et joliment décoré, impeccablement tenu, vraiment très agréable. La terrasse et la vue sur les montagnes nous a enchantés.
Nous aimerions revenir un jour, peut être aussi dans le grand chalet.

Deposits coming in thick & fast

Christmas in the chalet was booked last week and the deposit arrived, as promised, within the week. I love it when that happens.

Another booking has come in for a 2-week spell in Feb, for chalet and apartment combined, so they’re going to settle in nicely!

And all this has been made a lot easier with our new on-line booking system, which makes is much easier for our clients and potential clients to see up-to-date booking info. and secure their holiday on-the-spot.

Roll on the winter!
